The Ferman Center for the Arts at the University of Tampa is a state-of-the-art, 90,000-square-foot facility dedicated to fostering creativity and innovation in the fine and performing arts. Opened in Spring 2021, the four-story building serves as a central hub for disciplines such as music, art, design, speech, theatre, dance, communication, philosophy, and film .
• First Floor: Features the 200-seat Charlene A. Gordon Theater, the Saunders Foundation Art Gallery, an elevated performance galery, a sculpture studio, wood and metal fabrication shops, and an outdoor art courtyard equipped with casting/sand pit areas and furnaces .
• Second Floor: Houses the Center for Public Speaking, a large painting studio, 20 small advanced painting project studios, and student study gallery spaces .
• Third Floor: Contains a black box theater, two large dance studios, and general and seminar classrooms .
• Fourth Floor: Dedicated to music, this floor includes 12 music practice rooms, music teaching studios, instrument storage, three recording studios with a professional-level control room, two sound-insulated music classrooms, study spaces, and a computer lab .
The main entrance lobby is combined with a two level Exhibition Gallery. This free-flowing space will have paintings, sculptures, a theater and performance spaces in an open inviting environment. The remainder of the building will have classroom and studio spaces for sculpture, wood and metal, ceramics, painting, dance, black box theater, music, orchestra, and recording. Faculty offices are located on every floor.
